Workshops

During BJC 2019 you can enjoy many great workshops again! The workshop schedule is to be found HERE.
It is not necessary to register to most of the workhsops, except for the aerials – due to limited capacity and time reasons.
If you have another workshop to offer, please do so at the registration desk on the extra workshop notice board!

TISSUE FOR BEGINNERS

Teachers: Lukáš and Malina (CZ, Chůdadlo)
Summary: introduction into the tissue acrobatics for everybody
Required skills: motivation to learn something new and strenghten your body
Props: comfortable clothes suitable for aerial acrobatics
Duration: 90min
Limit of participants: max 20

TRAPEZ: 1 beginners / 2 advanced

Teacher: Ivet Čechovská (CZ)
Summary: we will focus on different ways of gettting up on the trapez and back down; how to spin the trapez around you and you around the trapez :-); in the second workshop we will focus on more advanced tricks, especially spins and their rhythm
Required skills: 1 motivation to learn something new /2 previous experience with trapez or ring, upstart
Props: wear preferably two layers of clothes in the area of your waist (eg body and t-shirt) and trousers of under-the-knee length
Duration: 60min
Limit of participants: max 12

FLOWERSTICK, THE WORLD OF CONTACTS

Teacher: Ivo Alderliesten (CZ/NL)
Summary: manipulation with flowersticks is more than just spinning them on the sticks, come to my workshop to find out, how to improve your skills with flowersticks!
Required skills: you should be able to keep the flowerstick in the air
Props: your own flowerstick (there will be a few flowersticks to borrow at the BJC 2019 orga team)

HOW TO MANIPULATE FLOWERSTICKS

Teacher: Ivo Alderliesten (CZ/NL)
Summary: manipulation with flowersticks is more than just spinning them on the sticks, come to my workshop to find out, how to improve your skills with flowersticks!
Required skills: you should be able to do a few tricks, minimal experience with contact tricks is welcome

SOCIAL CIRCUS / USE YOUR CIRCUS SKILLS AS A GOOD DEED!

Teachers: Dáša H.Trávníková (KUFR Theatre/Faculty of Sports Studies MU) and Bája (Cirkus LeGrando)
Summary: wouldyou like to use your circus skills differently? we will introduce you into the concept of "social circus", inform you about the Czech-Slovak platform CIRKONET and the circus network CARAVAN; we will show you practical circus activities for different target groups
Required skills: no specific skills neede; suitable for all who want to learn something about using circus techniques within social background
Props: no specific needed
Duration: 60min

HANDSTAND

Teachers: Céline and Milena (Belgium/Switzerland, dUoGyne Company)
Summary: in this workshop we will mainly focus on different ways to raise into handstands, working on handstand endurance and leg movements; we will also offer the possibility to work on different shapes and one arm handstands
Required skills: you don't need special skills just a prepared and motivated body and mind
Props: yoga mats (there are some to borrow on site)
Duration: 90 min

IMPROVE YOUR SPINS

Teacher: Lauge Benjaminsen (Denmark)
Summary: basic technique on how to spin and how to improve balance and speed
Required skills: beginner to advanced
Props: no props needed
Duration: 60 min

FANCY UP YOUR BALL JUGGLING

Teacher: Lauge Benjaminsen (Denmark)
Summary: learn how to use lifts in patterns to create your own creative new tricks
Required skills: beginner to advanced
Props: bring 3 to 5 balls
Length: 60 min

CONTACT, ROLL AND JUGGLING WITH HOOP

Teacher: Fernanda Sumano (Mexico)
Summary: we will learn how to practice your hoop juggling and bring your practice to the next step;  we will learn some basic movements for training and new unique sequences
Required skills: previous knowledge of hoop
Props: bring your own hoop/s and comfortable clothes
Duration: 90 min (with a half time break of 10 min)

MORNING WAKE-UP YOGA

Teacher: Gabi Janíková (ČR, Faculty of Sports Studies, Masaryk University)
Summary: let´s start the day with soft yoga exercise to wake up and stretch the whole body
Required skills: suitable for all jugglers who want to have some stretch in the morning
Props: bring your mat  (we will have a few mats to lend)
Duration: 60min

BASICS OF HYBRIDS AND ANTIBRIDS WITH POI

Teacher: Radek Gomola (CZ, Ilumia)
Summary:  in this workshop you will learn what a hybrid level is and how to use it; how to draw a square with one hand and a circle with another, while using poi; we will focus on a few basic hybrids and antibrids and we will try to learn a cateye in combination with isolation or extension
Required skills: intermediate or advanced poi jugglers, who would like to master hybrids and antibrids
Props: bring your own pair of poi
Duration: 60 min

HANDSTAND AND OBJECT MANIPULATION

Teacher: Kolja Huneck (Germany, studied at Codarts Circus Arts Rotterdam)
Summary: in the workshop we search for ways to integrate object manipulation in your handstand moves
Required skills: basic handstands are required, couples or trios are very welcome to join
Props: any object you would like to bring and integrate in handbalancing

DRAGON STAFF 2 – Dragon tail: forgot about the fish, its time for your Dragon

Teacher: Rendolf (Brno, CZ)
Summary: even advanced tricks may be simple! on a concrete example of a FISHTALE we will try out to work with analysis and synthesis; the goal is to show the process of learning more complex tricks effectively
Required skills: advanced

DRAGON STAFF 1 – How to train your Dragon

Teacher: Rendolf (Brno, CZ)
Summary: basic tricks and exercises to master your Dragon staff; suitable for complete beginners, useful for all; detailed analysis of a few popular beginners´tricks
Required skills: beginnners
Props: your own dragon staff

HOOP AND MOVEMENT

Teacher: Kata Rina (Austria / Flame Rain Theatre & Hoop R-Evolution)
Summary: anyone who feels safe with the basic exercises of hula hoop play (such as around hip, legs and chest) and wants to learn to move with and in his hoop, is exactly right at this workshop. get more free in your play and conquer the space with your hoop!
Required skills: you need to feel secure with the basic exercises such as play around hip, legs and chest
Props: one Hula Hoop, not too small, so you can also move slow with it
Duration: 60min

JUGGLOBATICS

Teacher: Liza van Brakel (Netherlands)
Summary: in this workshop we will combine juggling with floor-acrobatics
Required skills: not scared to roll over the floor
Props: your own clubs/balls

CLUB PASSING

Teacher: Companie TRIOLAR  (Germany, Denmark and Netherlands)
Summary: depending on the level we build this workshop around passing with 3 or more people, focusing on take-outs, roundabouts and variations
Required skills: 6 clubs passing between two people in 4 count

MUSICAL PING-PONG

Teacher: Lucas Zileri (Perú / Alt-Pong)
Summary: we will learn to make music with ping pong balls and paddles
Required skills: no specific needed
Props: I'll bring balls and paddles but, if you've got any more, bring them!

SEB’S MESS

Summary: focus on partial steps in order to learn this popular, but difficult club trick
Required skills: stable cascade with clubs

Summary: in this workshop we will focus on ring juggling, including the preparation phase, basic technique and specific ring juggling tricks
